The term organic food doesn’t mean a lot to many consumers, because they are not sure what organic food actually is or why it costs so much. Although organic food cost is higher than inorganic food, it the higher expense can be outweighed by the benefits derived from consuming organic products. However, the benefits of using what is organic food and other organic products extends beyond rice cakes and vegetables, it really is a lifestyle choice that positively affects, not only your health, but also the environment.

When deciding what is organic food, look for food that is grown in organically certified land where there was no use of chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides. Whatever is put on the grounds for the plants has to be from a natural resource without any chemical additives, even unintended additions. The lack of chemical fertilizer will often result in a lower crop yield, the laws of supply and demand will cause the cost to go up, as does insuring that there are no unnatural chemicals used to grow what is organic food.

For many years, growers have used chemically enhanced fertilizers and pesticides because they were cheap and greatly improved their crop growth. Pesticides were used to keep many insect intruders at bay without regard for what is organic food and how these chemicals leached into the ground and surrounding water supplies.

Keeping Mother Nature On The Side Of Good Health

Before the chemical products were developed the farmers used natural resources to provide the world with food supplies, and they had no notion of what is organic food and why is it good for them. It is only after using chemically treated fertilizers for many years that people are realizing they should be utilizing less and less of these, because natural is not only good for them but for the planet as well.

Similar to a leaf falling from a tree in an untouched forest, that leaf will slowly be turned into natural fertilizer and help the growth of the surrounding trees. Without any interference, natural predators control insect pests from destroying fresh shoots as they continue their growth. This could be a good example of how nature nurtures plant growth to produce a healthier organic food, and promotes the Earth in becoming a healthier planet.
